InclusiveU and CDI Work

Roles: Designed all layouts and created illustrations unless stated otherwise.

Since January 2023 I have been employed by Syracuse University’s InclusiveU, which is an organization that helps students with developmental disabilities attend college and enjoy the benefits of university life. As a result of working with this organization, I have also done work for Syracuse University’s Center for Disability and Inclusion, a larger organization in which InclusiveU is a part of. The CDI as a larger organization works to make Syracuse University and the area around it a more inclusive environment for those with disabilities.

Throughout my experience working with InclusiveU and the CDI I have learned a lot about inclusive design, and how to apply inclusive design to a brand.

This page serves as a portfolio of some of the work I have made for the organization.

InclusiveU Work

A full page ad created for a magazine for parents of students with disabilities.

One of a series of social media posts depicting actual InclusiveU student experiences.

A flyer celebrating the accomplishments of graduating InclusiveU students. This was the first project I made for the organization after being hired.

A brochure I redesigned promoting the organization and ways to get involved.

Halloween and Holiday party invitations. I made the illustrations with a Syracuse-inspired color palette. For the holiday invitation, I tried to avoid using imagery associated any specific winter holidays, to include people who celebrate all holidays.

A flyer promoting news about the organization. This is one of a few designs I’ve made for InclusiveU using alternating blue and orange blocks.

CDI Work

A 16x9 digital billboard promoting the weekly “NeurodiversiTea” event. I created the tea illustration, and designed the rainbow background, which was a way of simplifying a more complex design made by a student in the organization. Digital billboards like this one are made in four sizes, 4x3, 3x4, 16x9, and 9x16.

A 16x9 digital billboard promoting the then-upcoming “NeuroCurious?” event. The illustration on this billboard was inspired by a drawing made by a student with developmental disabilities, and was also used on a t-shirt to promote the event.

A flyer promoting the then-upcoming social hour/study break. I enjoyed being able to colors beside the university brand colors for this flyer. Although it seems simple, the illustration was the most time consuming part of this flyer, as I wanted to make sure the people were proportioned correctly.

An illustration which was used on a flyer and digital billboards promoting the Fall 2023 kickoff event. This illustration was designed to fit within Syracuse University’s unique iconography style, featuring sharper angles common in that style.

A flyer promoting post-secondary options for students with disabilities. This is typical of a CDI flyer design, many of which have similar designs.

Another organization I worked with alongside the CDI was the annual State of the Art Conference, described on their website as a conference “for colleges, universities, researchers, program staff, parents and self-advocates to learn about the current state of research and practice in the field of inclusive postsecondary education, and to network with each other.” Multiple colleges and universities participate in the conference. My work with the conference has mostly been for promoting the conference within Syracuse University.

The SOTA logo. I did not design it, but I work on enhancing it and making it higher contrast. The middle two images are the original enhanced versions and the right (desktop)/bottom (mobile) two images are the higher contrast logo. I’m including this logo primarily to putting the conference branding in context.

A social media graphic promoting the 2023 conference. This went though many iterations. The mountains seen on the bottom were intended to be a reference to the fact that the conference was in Colorado in 2023.

A flyer promoting SOTA and the accompanying Student Leadership Conference (SLC).

I have made a lot more content for these organizations, and this page is updated regularly.
