Motion Design
Below is my motion reel, which is a compilation of various projects I’ve made. Details the projects that make it up are below.
Reel Components
0:02 – 0:05: An animation of the octopus emoji which was an early work I did. The animation is sped up in the motion reel. Both the color of the octopus and the background change, reflecting octopus’ ability to change color and texture.
0:05 – 0:07: An experimental project I did inspired by YouTube video intros. This was also sped up for the reel.
0:07 – 0:10: An animation of the “Revolution 9” piece from my white album illustration project. Making the glitching effect took a lot of trial and error, and I went through several iterations of the animation.
0:10 – 0:16: Three slides placed side by side from a web story I designed showcase attractions in Chicago and the surrounding area. I’m from the suburbs of Chicago, so I chose attractions that I enjoy or that have personal meaning to me.
0:16 – 0:21: From a project in which I had to depict two opposites using an animated ampersand. I used this animation in the reel as a transition from the red of the Chicago animation to the green of the poker animation.
0:21 – 0:26: This animation is something I designed to add to the pocket aces magazine project, as an animated version of the infographic I designed for that project. The whole animation is unfinished, but I did want to include the part I had already made.
0:26 – 0:35: Part of an intro for a fake animated show called The Fortress, about a team of NASA astronauts who discover a fantasy planet with a space-traveling palace also called The Fortress. This is one of the most intricate projects I’ve worked on so far, and required many pre-compositions. You can see the full animation and learn more about it here.
The piece of music used in this motion reel is “This Minimal Technology (Pure),” by Coma-Media, which can be found for free on Pixabay.
